When our social worker Tesfaye took Mito to the area she said was her hometown, there was no trace of her family. As a last resort, our team contacted the Gamo-Gofa police and were heading there when Mito asked for the bus to stop. she then led our team straight to the doorsteps of her family. There, we talked with her father whom we observed to be negligent. In the short time we spent with them, we tried to discuss parenting with the family. Although her father’s reaction wasn’t as warm as we had hoped, her mother greeted us with joy. We hope and pray that Mito stays home this time around.
